What are the nutritional elements of “Green Gold” in combination with the precious Chios Mastic.

One of the unique PDO products of our country, the Aegina peanut is distinguished not only for its quality and taste, rightly gaining worldwide recognition, but at the same time it is an excellent superfood for our body.

Among the plants that we became acquainted with through Alexander the Great’s conquests is the peanut tree, while during the Byzantine period its fruit was particularly popular. It is a sensitive tree and its cultivation requires specific soil and climatic conditions.

Peanuts are considered one of the highest quality and tastiest nuts, especially when eaten uncooked and without salt. They are a highly nutritious food, rich in biotin, protein, fiber, minerals and B vitamins. They also contain antioxidants that help lower LDL cholesterol, offering protection to our heart. In addition, they are a source of good fatty acids and contribute to feeling full, making it easier to control our weight.

On the other hand, we have the rare mastic of Chios, also known as “precious tear”, which is now available as a medicine.

This natural, aromatic resin is secreted from the trunk and large branches of the mastic tree, through surface incisions made with sharp tools. The mastic appears as a tear in the incisions and flows in drops to the ground. When it is extracted, it takes the form of a sticky and clear liquid, which solidifies in irregular shapes after 15-20 days.

Chios mastic consists of a number of valuable components, such as terpenic acids, phytosterols, polyphenolic molecules and a number of other active substances, which total up to 80. This makes it unique worldwide.

Many scientific studies have proven the uniqueness of Chios mastic and its health benefits. Research shows its beneficial effect on digestive diseases, as well as its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Mastic helps to heal wounds and regenerate the skin, while at the same time combating bad breath and promoting oral hygiene.

Thanks to the strong anti-inflammatory action of eleanolic and oleanolic acids (3-oxotriterpenes), mastic has a healing effect, treating inflammation in various organs, such as periodontitis, esophagitis, gastritis, duodenal ulcers, as well as colitis and hemorrhoids.

In conclusion

The combination of these two superfoods makes them necessary in the daily life of man even as “medicine”.
